Title: Four Lexington Couples Celebrate 55th Wedding Anniversaries at Park Seed Run Date: FOR IMMEDIATE USE Words: 201 Photo: Digital photos available
A healthy marriage, like a healthy garden, takes a lot of love and a lot of effort. And in both cases, the results can be long-lasting and intensely satisfying! In June of 1951, six young couples were joined in holy matrimony. This month, those same six couples joined together to celebrate fifty-five years of marriage by visiting the nationally renowned gardens at Park Seed Company in Greenwood, South Carolina. The members of the 651 Club, as they call themselves, are: Ray and Mary Sue Burns, York, SC; Raymond and Lib Caughman, Lexington, SC; A.J. and Connie Dooley, Lexington, SC; John and Norene Drafts, Lexington, SC; Bob and Raye Livingston, West Columbia, SC; and Earl and Martha McCombs, Greenwood, SC. The 651 Club couples regularly come together on their anniversaries to enjoy each other and to share some new and exciting experience. According to Mr. Earl McCombs, who coordinated this year’s gathering, "I asked everyone what they would enjoy most, and a visit to Park Seed was the number one choice!" They received a personal tour of the Park Seed/Wayside Gardens headquarters, strolled in the 9-acre Trial Garden, and rounded out the day with a private luncheon at FrankGlen’s restaurant in Uptown Greenwood.
